چکیده

Abstract: Dimetrodon sp. femur, jaw, teeth, and rib bones were collected at N.E. Frederick, OK, sectioned for histological examination. This Oklahoma Museum of Natural History site has yielded well-preserved Paleozoic fossils decades. All heavily infiltrated with calcite other minerals, yet a reddish-brown mass obstructed many vascular channels. reacted to 374 nm UV illumination by emitting bright blue autofluorescence. was true every specimen indicates heavy presence iron. We conclude that the iron in canals is crystallized remains blood clotted during an asphyxiation event killed animal. Remarkably similar obstructive material also been observed studies performed on bones. these are clots simply await examination under fluorescence.

A 7diapsid (reptilia) Parietal from the Lower Permian of Oklahoma

A single isolated parietal bone from the Fort Sill deposit of Oklahoma is described. It has a well-developed upper temporal opening, resembling that of the primitive South African diapsids. The parietal is compared with that of Araeoscelis and Youngopsis. Based on comparison with this parietal and the configuration of the rear skull table of millerosaurs and romeriids, the bone usually identifi...

Invadopodia formation in blood clots

Blood clotting specifically supports the metastatic dissemination of malignant cells to the lung. We have recently demonstrated that 2 tumor types that are prone to form lung metastases, renal cell carcinoma and soft tissue sarcoma, share specific adhesive mechanisms that support the invasion and colonization of blood clots in the pulmonary vasculature.

Autofluorescence microscopy of fresh cervical-tissue sections reveals alterations in tissue biochemistry with dysplasia.

Fluorescence spectroscopy offers an effective, noninvasive approach to the detection of precancers in multiple organ sites. Clinical studies have demonstrated that fluorescence spectroscopy can provide highly sensitive, specific and cost-effective diagnosis of cervical precancers. However, the underlying biochemical mechanisms responsible for differences in the fluorescence spectra of normal an...

Platelet-targeting sensor reveals thrombin gradients within blood clots forming in microfluidic assays and in mouse.

BACKGROUND Thrombin undergoes convective and diffusive transport, making it difficult to visualize during thrombosis. We developed the first sensor capable of revealing inner clot thrombin dynamics. METHODS AND RESULTS An N-terminal-azido thrombin-sensitive fluorescent peptide (ThS-P) with a thrombin-releasable quencher was linked to anti-CD41 using click chemistry to generate a thrombin-sens...
